Description

All RRN Biathlon Programs are run in conjunction with X-Country programs. Most physical training is delivered through X-Country programs, while the Biathlon Programs deliver shooting training. The minimum required X-Country team placement for the Intro Biathlon Program is Sidewinders.

The Intro Biathlon Program is for novice biathletes. This program focuses on safe firearm handling, and the fundamentals of biathlon development through drills and games.

Rifle ownership is not mandatory for this program. Rifles are provided through the Biathlon Manitoba Rifle Pool Program. Ammunition is purchased in advance.

It is recommended that while in this program, parents of athletes find an opportunity to acquire a Possession and Acquisition Licence, with their athlete acquiring a Minor’s Possession and Acquisition Licence. This allows families to be conscious and well instructed in the use of firearms, as well as be prepared for the next stage in their athletes development matrix of owning or renting a rifle.

Acceptance into this program requires approval from a RRN Biathlon Coach.
