What is Biathlon?
Biathlon pairs free technique skiing with small bore marksmanship into an exhilarating winter competition. Competitors shoot at five targets in sequence, from both the prone and standing position. The length of competition, shooting position and shooting frequency is determined by an athletes age and ability. More information can be found with Biathlon Manitoba.
Red River Nordic offers one of the only competitive biathlon programs in the province in Manitoba.
Safety
Safety is the first priority of our programs. Biathlon involves firearms, which must be treated with respect and safe handling at all times. All of our coaches are PAL holders, as well as NCCP qualified in biathlon specific training. There is a zero tolerance policy for individuals who are safety liabilities at our training and competition venues.
Red River Nordic reserves the right to remove any individual found to be endangering private property, themselves, or others, from any offered biathlon program.
Programs
RRN Biathlon Programs are divided into three categories, Intro, Devo, and Primo.
Locations
Biathlon training venues are limited in the city of Winnipeg. We currently operate biathlon programs out of the indoor rifle range Gateway Gun Club. Competitions are held at the beautiful Falcon Ridge Ski Resort in the Whiteshell Provincial Park.
